- It has no long chain fatty acids.
- It contains no steroids or hormones.
- It lacks phospho-lipids - this makes it highly penetrating.
- It is an almost completely neutral, almost 100% triglyceride lipid.
- It is high in oleic acid - this increases it's ability to carry big-active compounds through the skin.
- It has a biologically active yellow compound. The polyunsaturated fatty acid content of emu oils unrelated to findings because chicken fat is higher in polyunsaturatated fats yet showed a lack of inflammatory activity. Chicken fat is white - emu fat is yellow.
- It is unique in that, although it is a short chain fatty acid in appearance, it acts
and has all the properties of a long chain fatty acid - this gives it a longer shelf life.
